Le Caring's AKC Dachshunds

I had a dream & now we're living it!

Marilynn writes, When I was a little girl I was always close to animals and  I felt that a home was incomplete without one. One Christmas my boys wanted a puppy and at the time a friend of the family had a Chihuahua for sale but, was unsure about whether she wanted to sell the pup well, last minute she said she was going to keep that puppy, then that meant no puppy for Christmas for the kids so, I acted fast. I searched in an ad I found at a local grocery store then, I called my Grandmother and asked her "What is a Dachshund"? She said that's a weiner dog, lol! I called the number on the local ad & asked the breeder how big the pups should get, she said 10 lbs. so, that was perfect because I couldn't have a dog too big. We decided to meet, it was snowing badly out and decided to meet part way in Bentleyville, Pa. at The King of the Hill Restaurant. We arrived first in the parking lot, very anxiously waiting, they arrived. I told the breeder I wanted the smallest red male. That's why I named him Bently, minus the "e". I fell in love with this puppy, he was potty trained quickly & was loved by everyone. I went through a bad divorce, had to give him to my ex and I kept Audrey because everything was split in half. Under the care of my ex on July 1st 2003 Bently was hit by a car and killed instantly. When I heard of the news, I was devastated. While mourning the loss of Bently I thought my baby boy would want me to live on and continue my dreams of becoming a Dachshund breeder so, I have been researching Dachshunds for many years. My fiance' and I stumbled upon an ad for an older AKC red smooth male. This was our Joker that I speak of, he has now since passed away but, sired many nice litters. Turns out he was a red dapple so, we ended up with some Double Dapples. I will not do it again. You need to be careful when buying a red because the dappling fades on a reds when they get older. Dappling no matter how light anywhere on a red should be marked Dapple from birth. It turned out those double dapple puppies were ok but, a lot of others are not that fortunate. Through the years I have learned about the genetics of a Dachshund, alleles etc. and what you can do & what you cannot. Dachshunds are like Lays potato chips, you can't just have one but, I am limited in how many Dachshunds I can care for & give them the individual time that they need. I will not become a kennel. I want all my dogs to live in my home and raise their puppies here like one BIG happy family. I met Barbara Laing in early 2005 when she inquired about a puppy ad that I had placed at the local bank. Barbara was interested and intrigued about a female puppy I had listed as she had never seen a Dappled Dachshund before and was interested in buying her for her Dad which needed a companion as he was on Hospice, Barbara quit her job and was dedicated to her Dad. Barbara's Dad many years before had a solid black & tan smooth Dachshund. The cute face of Maggie Anne, as I called her, got Barbara hooked, lol! Barbara came over to see Molli, as her Dad named the puppy. Barbara was very impressed of the fact you couldn't even tell I owned a dog because my house was as clean as a pin and was odorless. Barbara as you can figure the story out bought Molli that day and as time went on we developed a friendship. One year past and in June of 2006 I asked Barbara if she would like to AKC Owner/Co-owner some Dachshund females to raise as she did such a good job with Molli and I knew Barbara had similiar views on the proper way to raise puppies, she said "let me think about this" and it wasn't long until the phone rang with acceptance of my offer. We talk a lot on the phone mostly everyday and it seems like we can talk for hours. Most of our discussions are about the Dachshunds, the love for the breed & how we can improve it. The name Le Caring's is a symbol of unity & friendship between 3 friends Barbara, My Fiance & I. The "Le" symbolizes part of my fiance's last name also meaning "The" in French, The "Car" sounding like care is the first 3 letters of my last name and the "ing" is the last 3 letters in Barbara's last name. WE ARE, PROUD TO SAY.. Le Caring's AKC Dachshunds, a unity of 2 families all lending a helping hand & working hard to make it all successful!

Molli is the pretty puppy on the right above.

A Sign of My Future and at the age of only 14 years old.

My Grandmother used to own a ceramic shop located in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. Gram would sell ceramics, teach the craft of painting to people traveling up and down the busy street. My Grandmother asked me one day after school if I wanted to sit down in the shop with her and paint something, engage in some conversation etc. I would try my hardest to always make my Grandparents happy, I was a good kid! Well, she told me I could paint anything I wanted so, I looked around and chose this dog above. I tried my hardest to paint it and I always wanted to make things unique and my own. Looking back on it now it seems like a sign of my future. I never knew what a Dachshund was at 14 years old. I never seen one until 2001, when I bought my first one Bently, a red smooth. Well, Bently was the base color red like this Dachshund, smooth coat, brown eyes LOL! The spots signify dappling in my future, which my Audrey came next. It's even like a chocolately brown dappling too like most red dapple have, and the brown tip on the tail is almost exactly like my Willow Mae's white tip on her tail. I could have picked anything in the shop that day, why this? I certainly know why now. My fate, my destiny.. Definitely Dachshunds! ~Marilynn
